Foobar2000
I first discovered Foobar2000 because of Frans talking about it and how you have to do quite a bit of customisation to get it the way you want it. This put me off and I never actually downloaded it and messed around with it until 2 days ago. Now I will no longer use WMP or any other music player unless watching videos.
I felt as though I needed to tell this to all of you and encourage you to download this program and have a mess around with it. At some point I will create some sort of tutorial on what I did, how I did and what plugins I used. My version of Foobar is not advanced or sophisticated it is just a simple version and only has something like 3 or 4 plugins being used. However I warn you now, do not “skin” Foobar otherwise you are taking away all of it’s advantages of being a low resource user.
I will now leave you all in piece. To download Foobar go to www.foobar2000.org. I downloaded the normal version, ask if you want to know what plugins I use. My version of Foobar2000 can be seen below.
Pre-Christmas Celebrations
Eve of Christmas Eve
Well I have to say this Christmas has been rather good this year- Seasons Greetings to all. My holiday celebrations kicked off on the Eve of Christmas Eve as I think was quite justified. Me, Rob, Starkey and Trig decided to go drinking in Ilkley because we can. Anyway arrive there at about 8:15 and see my friend John in Paninies with Ben. Anyway John is absolutely waisted as he has been to his work party and tried to keep up with all these hardcore drinkers and failed miserably.
But we all decided to go to The Crescent and start drinking. We have a few rounds here and I managed to convince everyone to go the Rose and Crown. We arrive and it is absolutely packed. I bump into Neal who I use to go to school with which was a bit random and notice that Francesca Fran and Liam are working behind the bar which I thought was pretty funny. Anyway we have a pint or 2. I bump into Josh and some other Ilkley Grammar people before Smithy and George finally turn up.
We then go to Escape and buy a round in there but it was a bit rubbish so moved on to The Yard which was equally rubbish but I got a free beer from Smithy which was alright. At this point things start to get confused. Me and Starkey head off to the Crescent but there is a queue so we go to Johnsons which was dead. Something else happens at this point and I remember trying to jump the queue at The Crescent because I was 18 which is a bit weird.
We go back to Johnsons for a bit and I notice it is a bit of a sausage fest going on. So I wonder outside and I see John again. He had been attacked by a load of kids who have ASBOs but he broken the nose of one of them which was pretty funny. Anyway we go into Johnsons and meet up with everyone and spend sometime there.
At some point a guy falls down the stairs and cracks his head open but I didn’t seem to phased by this. I went looking for John’s sister with John- I don’t know why, we just did. Searched a hell of a lot of places but never found her.
Me, Trig and Rob then headed up to meet Emma and Hannah at the train station. We wondered back down to Johnsons and see Starkey going home in a taxi. We headed back into Johnsons where we all danced but I kept randomly leaving and I can’t remember why.
Me, Rob, Trig, Hannah and Emma got a taxi back together where Rob was almost sick in. However we made it to his house fine and I ended up walking home which turned out to be a good thing as I threw up on the way home. A good night overall I would say.
Christmas Eve
Everyone appeared to be feeling a bit rough so no one wanted to drink too much. I went into Ilkley for about 4:30 and met John. His mum drove us to Harry’s house where we chilled out for a bit before going to Josh’s family party. We arrive and only his parents are in. They give us some cans and we just sit down waiting for him. Josh turns up a bit later with Bev and some guy called Jimmy. We go to Josh’s room and just chill/drink for an hour or 2.
At about 8 we head off and go to the Rose and Crown. Me and John did a diversion however and went to Paninies for some dinner and then the bank. We arrive and the place is absolutely packed with everyone celebrating. I bought myself a drink and chilled with some random guys, some random girls, Rebecca and the guys I had come with minus Bev who had gone to the Trav.
John bought me a drink and then decided he was leaving- oh well. I drank and bought Harry and Josh a pint. Harry then went off with this guy in a blue top who was pretty sorted. Me and Josh realised how sloshed Jimmy was and Jimmy tried to pull Josh under the misletoe. But Jimmy ended up some random guy so he is going to have the shit ripped out of him forever.
Anyway partyed away in the Crown most of the night before leaving just because Christmas as there was no public transport and taxi’s where to expensive so my dad said he would get me before midnight. Yet another good night.
Foo Fighters
I have not done an update for quite sometime so I feel that I should do this. I am going to split the update up so it isn’t all one massive entry but trust me it will be well worth reading. This entry is quite blatently on the Foo Fighters gig I went to on the 14th December 2005. I had to rush from rowing with Browny and get changed, pick up the food tickets and camera and then run for the train. Browny managed to lose the tickets the one time I gave them to him so it was all good. Met Zach at Leeds train station and got on the train (which was now delayed by 15 minutes).
We arrived at the change and realised we had missed our connection so carried on to Manchester Picadilly. Once arriving we decided to get a tram to go Manchester Victoria where the MEN Arena is situated. However we could not be bothered waiting the 7.5 minutes for the tram to arrive so we walked there. The area in which Manchester Victoria is situated turned out to be rather seedy but luckily nothing bad happened. Arrived at the arena and bought myself a beer- £4 and it was a shit beer on top of that (Carlsberg in a plastic bottle).
Got our tickets checked and given an arm band- we were now in the standing area. The next thing now pissed me off- draught beer for £3 a pint!! I was annoyed. But I settled down and watched EoDM (Eagles of Death Metal) who were alright but nothing special, kinda old. We were also slowly moving our way to the front waiting for Futureheads to come on.
The Futureheads came on and we were watching them quite happily. Next thing I know Browny has done a run to the front knocking everyone out the way and was pulling me and Zach behind him. No one seemed to happy about this but we didn’t care. The Futureheads were not that good (they were better at Leeds Fest) which was a bit disappointing but then again I hadn’t gone to the gig to see Futureheads.
We waited and waited and waited. However we were entertained by these stage crew members who were climbing up to do the lighting as they were all midgets. Then suddenly it goes dark and the Foo Fighters come on. The place errupts and everyone goes mental. I stayed at the front for nearly the whole gig. I was crushed and you can’t make out any of my photos but I did get to touch Dave Grohl.
I moved back after a while to find that a pit had just opened up and I find Browny in the middle of it with a sign saying “Beer £3″ which had a flashing light on and he had blatently stolen from one of the beer dispensor people. Dave Grohl shouts out suddenly “They’re still selling beer for £3? I’ll take 2″- that was awesome. Anyway me and Brown continued to get battered in the pit which went absolutely psychotic for the closing number- One by One.
The setlist for this amazing gig was as follows:
- In Your Honour
- No Way Back
- My Hero
- Best of You
- Up in Arms
- Learn to Fly
- Times Like These
- The One
- Stacked Actors- my favourite Foo Fighters song and it just so happened that Dave ran through the crowd to this podium and then had a guitar duel with Chris. On the way back Taylor did a drum solo
- Big Me
- Breakout
- Generator
- Have it All
- Everlong- dedicated to Futureheads
- Monkey Wrench
- This is a Call- dedicated to a kid who is better at guitar then Dave
- Cold Day in the Sun
- Jam playing the start of Smoke on the Water among other songs
- All My Life
Well I have to say that this is one of the best gigs of my life however I preferred the setlist they played at Leeds Fest but this is only because they played “For All the Cows” and that is one of my favourite Foo Fighters songs.
Another friday night on the town
I only seem to update this after I have been out drinking- oh well that isn’t so bad is it? Well went out drinking with John, Harry and Ben last night. Started off in India and met some teachers from school which was pretty funny. Harry shouting “Been to matalan recently” when they were walking away. We moved onto The Cresent after this and had a few pints there. Bit of a laugh. The two 18 year olds got asked for ID and the two 17 year olds didn’t.
After The Cresent we went to The Yard but only have one pint here as the manager asked for ID from all of us but only two of us had it so decided not to risk it so we went to the Rose and Crown. Quite funny, met these two 14 and 15 year olds and had a laugh because Sam had had sex with one of them. John and Ben were trying to get blow jobs off them which isn’t really a good thing but thankfully the little girlies went away and were replaced by Josh. Also saw Dom Henry and Williams in the Crown which was pretty funny. Had a laugh and we all went back to The Cresent for a bit. The teachers where in there when we turned up so that was a bit funny as they were out on the piss. Smithy and co. turned up so I had a quick chat with them. After a couple of drinks we went to Panines for some high quality toasty action. Then we all went into Johnsons.
Johnsons seemed to be a bit strict on friday but I didn’t care as I’m 18. Loads of people from Ilkley Grammar School where there (I remember Leanna Skelton, Sophie Robinson, Sophie Day, Johnny Woolly, Adam Rhodes) and so was Howard and Jack. Danced with people, caught up with a few others. Had a good time generally. But then the bouncer started going round asking for ID from people so quite a few IGS people go kicked out. One of the bouncers went to John “I know you’re 18 because I’ve rejected you so many times.” John and Josh went pretty early from Johnsons but I stayed for a bit. Harry went soon after so it was just me and Ben. We chilled for a while and then I bumped into Edd again (previously seen him earlier in Rose and Crown with Amy) which was quite funny. Also saw Levi and some other people from Woodhouse who are in 5th form (I scared them away with my drunkeness). Went downstairs and bumped into Freddy Stroud for the second week in a row. Also saw Nathan and Simon at this time.
I decided to leave now and it was about 1:45. Got a taxi with Edd (who I know have to payback), went home and slept a lot.
