Nah nah nah, Hey Jude

Today was quite a good day. Only had 1 lesson in the morning and had a good long old chat with Becki. Turns out some guy called Lee is hurrassing her and me and the boys have to go kick the shit out of him- maybe not. Also had a really nice sandwitch from Sainsbury’s.

Also discovered that having your mobile language being changed to Italian is not helpful and can be a pain in the ass to fix but I did it so that was quite good.

In ICT we all basically discovered that we don’t have enough time to get everything done so basically screwed (as you can guess this was quite a bad part of the day). But at least I haven’t missed any deadlines yet which isn’t as bad as some other people who haven’t made one yet. I have to do Testing for wednesday, Evaluation and something else for monday then update everything else to make sure it is to a high standard.

Training was medioka. I mean we don’t have a coach anymore so will have to wing it a bit these days but it should be fine. Did two laps of circuit training comprised into 1:30 minutes of- sit ups, press ups, supermans, squat jumps and an ergo.

However to top off this great day when I arrived home I discovered that I had received my P45 so I can now get a new job (this is some tax thing that you receive when you leave a job and can’t technically get a new job until you receive it). My new book “Is It Just me or Is Everything Shit?” also arrived, seems to be quite a good read.

Got that friday feeling?

Friday at school was a bit different, well it wasn’t. Some people had gone to Paris on a trip so a lot of my year had decided that gave them the right to skive school which I thought was pretty funny. I only had 4 lessons and they just so happened to be the first 4 so after that I had nothing to do but had to stay to do some bloody assembly which sucked so I ended up staying at school all day when I could of gone home before lunch.

Starkey didn’t have any lessons until after lunch so me, him and Baker went up to Sainsbury’s and spent about half an hour selecting what shit we should have for lunch. I got some dodgy microwave pizza and they got some microwave pizza and noodles. As you can guess it was a very nutritional meal.

Once this amazing meal had been eaten me and Starkey stole the speakers from downstairs and hooked them up to the prefect common room sound system so we could listen to some high quality tuneage. I naturally did some amazing dancing and a bit of chair wars. I think I went downstairs at one point and announced we had created a gay club upstairs and anyone was invited (I think I scared Becki a bit with this).

The afternoon was spent watching some rubbish film and listening to my music before MP3 player ran out. So basically did nothing in the afternoon which sucked a bit really.

Friday night went into Leeds and met up with Starkey, Baker, Emma H, Jo, Angus, Raine, Alice and Tom to go watch “A Cock and Bull Story”. Film was alright- where it was funny it was very funny but parts of it were just to random and I didn’t see the point of where it was going. After the film we all went to Brown’s for a drink but Tom and Alice went home.

Me and Starkey split from the others and went for the train. Turned out we just missed it and had to wait an hour for the next one. Starkey decides to have some McDonald’s as you do and we went to Witherspoons to meet up with the Parish.

Chilled there for a bit and went to catch the train. On the train I bumped into a couple of blokes who I know including the meathead that is Josh. Much fun was had on the train as I bumped into some guy who is mates which someone who lives near me (he taught me how to get films for free).

Some point in the night I think I sent Becki a message saying “I aint gonna let you give up drinking in ilkley. I will take you out sometime and show you that you can have a good time and will get served. Xx” Maybe that wasn’t really a good idea? Oh well I guess I will find out on monday as I am pretty sure she ain’t gonna reply to that partly because it was just so random.

Music is the key

Lets see how well this goes down. It is supposed to be like 30 songs but I couldn’t really be bothered so I just did the simple 10. I think there are only really 2 songs that people might struggle on.

Step 1: Get your music thingy ready, put it on random, and play.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 10 songs that play.
Step 3: Let everyone guess what song (and artist!) the lines come from.
Step 4: Cross out the songs when someone guesses correctly

1. Colossal insight invites the sole
2. Is it cruel or kind not to speak my mind and to lie to you rather than hurt you
3. Darling, what you gonna do now? now that you’ve noticed, it all went wrong
4. Yeah, Testi Testing 1 2.Uh 1 Push the panic button man
5. Oh place your hands, on my own. Run your fingers through my soul
6. Me, I’m a man who is trudging best I can, through a mine field built to blast. Can I make it? Will I last?
7. Once I lived the life of a millionaire, spent all my money- didn’t have any cares
8. With your feet in the air and your head on the ground. Try this trick and spin it, yeah
9. I’m on my way, can’t settle down. Stuck in ways of being a mess
10. Happiness, more or less, it’s just a changing something in my liberty

Not my fault if lyrics are wrong, well it is but oh well

Who wants to be a TV star?

Well I didn’t either and probably still won’t be but today I was contacted by someone called Sarah from BBC 2 asking if me and my extreme ironing team would want to come on a quiz called Eggheads. I don’t really know much about this quiz but this has to be the single most random event ever to happen to me,

The problem is you have to be 18 to be on the show. Hayden just makes it in but Brown is going to be a bit of a dodgy case. We also don’t have enough members to make up the full team. We might try to get Duncan to fly back from Canada for it (just for the randomness) and maybe get Steve to do it as well but he has never done extreme ironing.

Just thought I would tell you people about this.

The Russian spy thing…

Just thought I would bring this up, not because of what is happening but because of my friends MSN screename, basically saying…

Cold War 2: This Time It’s Personal

Just made me laugh a lot and thought I would share it with everyone, thankyou.

Arctic Monkeys and other adventures

Arctic Monkeys debut album released today. Well technically not their first album as they had the “Demos” album made up of…surprise surprise, demos. The new album, “Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not”, is good but it has quite a clean sound which is something I don’t feel suits their songs- well some of them sound better anyway. There are one or two tracks which aren’t on: Space Invaders and Choo Choo. Anyway you should all buy it.

Not much happened today. I thought I had to hand in my ICT implementation today but it turns out I didn’t which was a nice surprise except it is now due in for wednesday or thursday and it isn’t going to be done by then. Errmmmm what else…me and Becki went up to Sainsbury’s as you do- something about her needing cotton buds to clean out her ear due to some new piercing, I forget I was too busy thinking how fit she is. Bought the Arctic Monkeys album here so wasn’t a worthless trip.

Jack Johnson tickets should now be delivered this saturday, hopefully. If they don’t come this time I swear there is going to be murders- pissed me off last saturday as they didn’t deliver as promised.

Currently listening to The Streets, “A Grand Don’t Come for Free” album. So far so good, should also check this album out as well I guess; it’s quite funny at least.

Another random drinking night

Everytime I go out the drinking session seems to go wrong in some weird way. I had 2 options last night: go my mate Ollies 18th birthday do or go drinking with Becki for her birthday. Chose Becki’s do as it was less effort and didn’t actually have to drive anywhere.

It did seem I had made the wrong decision though as I hadn’t heard anything at it was 9pm. However she sent me a message saying they were all going to the Trav at 11:30 and told me to be there. So went into Ilkley for about 10:30 to ensure a bit of a drinking session. Ilkley was dead. I knew no one out and I had to have a few pints by myself in the pub looking like a tosser until Dom came working through the doors so at least I wasn’t by myself. I use to work with Dom and he isn’t all there- he also can’t talk brilliantly either.

Anyway 11:30 goes and no sign so I am getting ready to leave and I get a phone call saying they are all going to the Trav now. So I start to wonder in that direction and give her a call to see what happens. They’ve been ID’d and are hanging around outside.

Becki asks if I can buy them alcohol so they can all go get pissed in the park (classy). Off-license is closed so I take them to some pub, unfortunately the bar has just closed so oh well.

We are chilling around outside for a bit and this guy called Sam lets some girl drive his car and she has never driven before which was a bit weird. Naomi didn’t actually stall the car until she had to stop where it did stall. That was quite funny.

They all decided to go to Becki’s- didn’t know if I was invited or watever so I decided to just get in a taxi and decided to piss off basically. Don’t know what happened after that so you know hope birthday wasn’t that bad really.

Bye bye stereo

That’s right we said good bye to the stereo today, in the sixth form centre anyway. Things hadn’t been going to well as all the controllers had been lost for the TV and so there was some serious problems switching to AV but got to it eventually but the stereo was the major problem today.

Our sixth form stereo isn’t so much a stereo as a music system. A 400 watt head unit with 2 tape players, cd-player, tv-aux, radio; 2 speakers which came with it which are pretty big; 2 speakers which where from the old system and they are fairly small- standard for a hi-fi; 2 floor standers and 2 bass speakers. This adding up to the head unit being backed right against the wall (blocking the fan) caused the system to just go half way through the “Bay Watch” theme today and a lot of smoke be produced. In the future we may not use as many speakers…

Music A-Z

Thought I would steal this idea from Frans, seemed like quite fun anyway but no doubt I may struggle on some letters. Basically for every letter of the alphabet I name my favourite band. F should be a hard one at least.

  • Arctic Monkeys- English indie band near from where I live who are about to make it big. Famous for doing all the promotion themselves and then finding a recording contract once they had a following. They have some amazing songs.
  • Beatles- one of the greatest bands ever so they were guaranteed to be in at B. However there was competition from Blur. I don’t think I need to tell anyone about The Beatles.
  • Coldplay- great band, well they where. I prefer their album “Parachutes” over any others they have produced (especially the most recent). Again I think most people have heard of Coldplay.
  • Doves- band from Manchester. They are amazing live and their album “Black and White Town” is amazing and everyone should listen to it. They are not a bird show which one girl asked me a while ago.
  • Embrace- yet another band which was formed rather close to where I live. Yet again amazing live. They album “Out of Nothing” is better than their greatest hits so if you are going to look into them get this album.
  • Foo Fighers- awesome band, one of my favourites. Saw them live twice last year. F was also heavily contested by Feeder, Faithless and Fatboy Slim. My favourite Foo’s song is “Stacked Actors”. They are also the first non-British band to appear in my list.
  • Groove Armada- nice dance/chill out group.
  • Hives- completely amazing and awesome band. Their first album is great- anything after that I am not to sure on.
  • Interpol- don’t really listen to these guys but they are ok. Only really like “Evil” but hey better than having a blank here.
  • Jack Johnson- very closely contested letter but JJ is just an amazing artist and his songs are great. Check him out if you haven’t heard of him. Close to be “J” was Joseph Arthur, John Legend, Jimi Hendrix, Jamiroquai and Jurassic 5.
  • Kasabian- another amazing band and they are absolutely great live with an amazing album. Close to being K where also Kanye West and Kings of Leon.
  • Lemon Jelly- people maybe shocked at this choice but they are great to chill out to and the songs are pretty damn funny. Led Zeppelin should also be seen as L.
  • Mylo- great music. Awesome to dance to and have a laugh with. Also really good live.
  • N*E*R*D- I like the whole rap metal thing and their first album was just great. Should check them out but I am presuming that most people will have heard of them.
  • Oasis- the one and only, who else could it of been? I think everybody has heard of this band they’re great music. If you haven’t I think you need a slap. Ordinary Boys are also immense.
  • Placebo- love this band. I would of said Pixies for P but I am not that big a fan of their music.
  • Queens of the Stoneage- this band is great and I chose them for simply the fact they created “No One Knows” and that they are mental live. Queen where close but I am not a massive fan.
  • Red Hot Chili Peppers- one of my favourite artists of all times. Not to sure on the more recent music but still loving it. My favourite songs by them are “Knock Me Down” and “Lovely Man”. Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine and Royksopp.
  • Stereophonics- for the simple fact they made “Performance and Cocktails” they deserve to be on this list. Truly amazing band and everyone should at least have that album of theirs. Of course you can’t forget Snoop Dogg, Supergrass and Sublime in the S section.
  • Travis- great band from Scotland. Thinking about it I don’t really listen to any bands that start with T and don’t have “The” at the start other than Tenacious D.
  • U2- I don’t know any other band starting with U and I have to say I am not a massive fan of U2. I feel that they are over rated and need a slap down to Earth.
  • Verve- incredible band. Unfortunately didn’t stay together very long to make many albums but “Urban Hymns” should be owned by all.
  • White Stripes- not a massive fan but I do like a few of their songs. Should at least listen to them to understand how great a duet can be.
  • Xzibt- won by default due to the serious lack of artists beginning with X. Listen to him if you have to.
  • Yeah Yeah Yeahs- again they are alright but they are on this list by default. I think I like one of their songs, however they are a bit different and should be at least recognised for this.
  • Zutons- great band from Liverpool and they did not end up on this list by default. Listen to them if you haven’t they are rather good.

Sunday has been a good day

I had a nice long sleep and I have just chilled all day. I have also updated my CD which I make for school as no one else seems to have amazing musical taste (of course I am joking). The CD can be seen below- got enough artists on it?
the new cd

Also had an update for the extreme ironing site so I strongly suggest you all check it out. Especially Americans as the new photos contain my friend doing some east coast ironing.

Wharfedale Extreme Ironing

As you can tell this is a pointless entry.
