IBM pt. 2

Didn’t get the IBM placement. Kind of fluffed the interview a bit, which was very annoying to say the least.

So anyway I heard IBM abused small children with Hungarian prosthetic arms and do sexual favours to Hungarians - probably a good job I didn’t get the placement I guess.

Internship

I have an interview for an IBM placement at IBM Hursley on 26th November. Hopefully it will go alright and would be a great experience if I actually got offered one of the places.

Mafia’s 10 commandments

Police raided the home of Salvatore Lo Piccolo (new boss of Sicilian Mafia) and found a “10 commandments” for being a good mobster.

  1. No-one can present himself directly to another of our friends. There must be a third person to do it.
  2. Never look at the wives of friends.
  3. Never be seen with cops
  4. Don’t go to pubs and clubs
  5. Always being available for Cosa Nostra is a duty - even if your wife’s about to give birth.
  6. Appointments must absolutely be respected.
  7. Wives must be treated with respect
  8. When asked for any information the answer must be the truth.
  9. Money cannot be appropriated if it belongs to others or other families
  10. People who can’t be part of Cosa Nostra: anyone who has a close relative in the police, anyone with a two-timing relative in the family, anyone who behaves badly and doesn’t hold to moral values.

Munir Akram - a legend…well maybe not

Absolute classic quote by Ambassador Munir Akram (Pakistan representative at UN) while being interviewed by John Snow for Channel 4 News today about the state of emergency in Pakistan. Unfortunately it is not on youtube, but it is on the Channel 4 website (at the date of posting) if you want to watch the interview - the interview

John Snow: But how can it be serving the national interest to be representing a government that has been locking up errr perfectly normal civilian politicians, judges, lawyers, human rights activists,…

Munir Akram: This is obviously your opinion, I do not share that opinion. I believe that the detentions are preventive in nature. To prevent the kind of disruption we’ve been facing for several months. The errr objective is the stability and progress of Pakistan and we hope that we shall return very soon to normalcy. There has been no no major blood shed, no no crack down of the nature that is usual in such situations. Pakistan, I think, is a country that is committed to democracy and we shall see she shall return very soon.

John Snow: But forgive me ambassador, I’m not talking about opinion. It is a fact that Imran Khan, an opposition politician, has been arrested. It is a fact that *can’t spell name*, human rights activist, has been arrested. It’s a fact that television stations have been put off the air and that their journalist have been arrested. Those are facts, not opinions.

Munir Akram: Certainly, but this is an emergency - it is not a picnic.

*John Snow looks puzzled and confused - is that all he has to say on the topic?*

(I found it funny anyway, maybe you have to watch the video to get it).

On a seperate note, FAST (Federation Against Software Theft) want to ban any pirates from the Internet. This “genious” idea is to be implemented by analysing ISP network traffic and inform the ISP of anyone pirates on their network in the hope the ISP will kick them off the network. This is repeated until the pirates are banned on all ISP networks (yes it is a stupid idea).

Two words: FUCK OFF!

Unlucky
